So what, because these people are in a tight spot, they don’t deserve a little splurge sometimes? Or if they have kids, those kids don’t deserve an occasional luxury - something their friends take for granted?
:/

I love you, Moony.

My last month on food stamps I bought every ridiculous thing I could think of just piss people like this off.

Its stuff like this that fuels government cuts to welfare. Keep feeding into the iedology of the “welfare queen” and help justify cuts to valuable aid that keeps children in poverty fed. I’m so glad the need to sneer and poke fun at the lives of people in poverty is more important than understanding how being able to afford basic things and even the most BASIC luxuries (oh noes! cigarettes and candy!) is absolutely crucial.
Like when the government decided to put impose the welfare time clocks of five collective years because of the myth of the woman who lived on welfare her whole life - even though statistics at the time showed that most welfare recipients barely ever even needed the program for more than 5 years.
I’d like to see someone try to live off of food stamps and then turn around and try to talk shit on the poor.

bleh. my roommates and i are all on food stamps and there have been times that we went out and bought nothing but cake, ice cream, and then spent money on a bottle of liquor. We all need our vices and our nights to splurge. Who are you to judge?
